Winter Warmers Recipe #4 - Spicy Lentil Pumpkin Soup

The first thought that comes to mind when I look at this delicious soup daughter will not eat my pumpkin soup. It has become a thing in our home. Why? Because my mum makes a better one and nothing else compares, according to my daughter. Funny enough it just makes my heart melt. It’s one of my daughters stories of her Nan, that she will carry for a lifetime. I too am lucky enough to have food stories of my grandparents, still today my cousins and aunts and uncles share these joyful memories. Stewed Apple and rhubarb, 5 cheezels placed as rings on each finger and thumb, savoury shapes..... Food connects people, family, friends, neighbours, strangers, it impacts people....

Winter Warmers - Recipe #2 Lazy Saturday Banana Oat Pancakes

Breakfast has to be my favourite meal of the day and then you add, lazy, happy hormones, pancakes, and Saturday all into a recipe. This has to be a mood saver. I was pleasantly surprised when Gullu mentioned the super power of oats. I love oats, but my visual mind reacts to the colour beige and I think this could not possibly support the nutritional power for serotonin, surely it can’t be housed in that colour. Well looks can be deceiving, beige can ignite happy hormones to help support anxiety and depression. Gullu shares this below.

Winter Warmers for Mental Wellness. Recipe #1 -Frittata to Nourish

I asked Gullu Balci, (our K.Crew Nutritionist) if she could put together some easy winter warmers particularly how cold it has been in Melbourne over the last couple of weeks. What I love about her recipes, not only do they help with our mental wellness, but also the environment by promoting zero waste, with her recommendations of using left over vegetables. This fritatta is protein plus with free range eggs. The amino acids in the protein help support regulation of feelings and thoughts. Keep warm x
